Fear is not reverence. It only looks like it.

Reverence is what you feel when you are in the presence of something real. Fear is what you feel when you are being controlled.

Religion that operates primarily through fear is not transmitting the sacred. It is transmitting the institution’s need for compliance.

These are different things. Learn to tell them apart.
